Scope

Working under the direction of the Operations Manager, performs a wide range of duties associated with inventory control, inventory management, purchasing and warehousing. Develops and/or maintains performance data gathering and feedback mechanisms. Dedicated to controlling costs, supports safety and environmental initiatives, and in all other ways supports the business and customer expectations. Preference for candidates from Texas or surrounding states familiar with region.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor and control inventory to minimize costs to meet both production and customer needs.
• Develop and maintain receiving and inspection functions that will assure quality and specifications are sustained.
• Coordinates with other departments to limit stocked parts and minimize obsolescence exposure.
• Sustain adequate stock levels to support manufacturing activities in a timely manner and comply with good asset management practices.
• Implement develops and maintains systems that can proactively manage inventory levels, reorder points and costs.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement projects within the dialectic of continuous improvement; prioritizes and acts sequentially to implement the top ones.
• Manages procurement activities to establish on time shipping at or below targeted material costs.
• Evaluate supplier performance criteria to include price, quality, responsiveness and timeliness.
• Participate with product development as it pertains to material and purchased components.
• Support sales proposals with timely estimates.
• Develop departmental personnel to increase efficiency and improve retention skills. Select, train and review employees against established criteria.
• Work with corporate sponsors to unitize purchasing leverage when practical.

 

Measures

Cost avoidance, cost reduction, part shipping, RMA process, cycle counts, expediting costs, purchase order execution, inventory turns and follow up credibility.
 

Skills/Knowledge

Strong oral and written communication skills and inter-personal skills needed for dealing effectively with outside vendors and co-workers and subordinates.
• A dominant personality well researched in commodities markets.
• Ability to learn and aggressively adapt to varied work assignments.
• Willingness to assure responsibility for accuracy of work performed.
• College graduate or its equivalent plus 5-10 years in a related field.
• Demonstrated performance history driving cost controls.

 

Additional Information

Starting salary of $70-80K, benefits and company performance bonus provided. Some relocation assistance provided depending on location and circumstances.
